After a long frozen state, it’s a pleasant surprise that the DENIS@home website has been restored and attaching to the project is possible again.
No work available yet, but a beta test app created on 1 Nov 2021 shows promise.

We have just released a small batch of tasks to see how it works (almost 1000 simulations). If all goes well, when those will be finished, we will send a package with approximately 40,000 simulations.

All WCG points of the Mapping Cancer Markers (MCM) sub-project that were credited during the challenge are counted, even if the WU was already calculated before the start of the challenge. However, WUs that are pending at the end of the challenge cannot be taken into account!

More information and statistics regarding the challenge can be found here. https://www.seti-germany.de/wcg/1_en_Welcome.html

Your participation is very much appreciated

Best regards

The Ramanujan Machine

Post by Contact »

The Ramanujan Machine is a novel way to do mathematics by harnessing your computer power to make new discoveries.

The Ramanujan Machine – A Collection Of Algorithms That Aims To Discover Conjectures On Fundamental Constants Is Now On BOINC
Over the last few years, our group has been developing the concept of the Ramanujan Machine, a collection of algorithms that aims to automatically discover conjectures on mathematical constants.

We’re very excited to announce that a first experimental (beta) version of the Ramanujan Machine is now on BOINC!

If you’re running Ubuntu 20.04 or higher, and excited about experimental mathematics, we’d love it if you join us and help us discover new conjectures (and bugs 😉).

Join us on https://rnma.xyz/boinc/ and use the invitation code “RNM->Run”

If you’re interested to learn more about our project, you can read about it more on our site http://www.ramanujanmachine.com/

Big and Ugly Rendering Project is a non-commercial distributed computing project using the BOINC framework that is now in hibernation.
It was under development to work as a publicly distributed system for the rendering of 3D graphics and, among other short animations, rendered Big Buck Bunny.
BOINC volunteers that contributed CPU cycles were individually acknowledged in the end credits. We were asked whether we wanted our real names or our BOINC user names listed.

Hey man, thank you so much for posting this here! While it may sound unusual considering my age, I’ve been a big fan of the Big Buck Bunny ever since it appeared on screens! I must admit that I’ve never heard of this BOINC thing before, but it looks very interesting indeed. How much time did you spend creating it? I’m a beginner in 3D graphics, and I’m always fascinated when I spot projects of this quality. Thanks for inspiring me! I will try to create something myself as soon as I get my computer back from the PC data recovery service. Cheers!

Working with distributed systems to render 3D graphics can be challenging. There are a lot of factors to consider, such as latency and bandwidth. But with careful planning and execution, it is possible to create a system that is both fast and efficient. I see you did a great job, and I am surprised by the quality of your work. I recommend you post your work on https://forgehub.net, and maybe you will find a team to work on better projects and make more money. Also, there you can find a lot of useful software for you.

To clarify, I am a volunteer that contributed CPU cycles to the BOINC project Big and Ugly Rendering Project (BURP) which orchestrated the rendering of Big Buck Bunny.

Cheers!

Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates

There is an expired certificate in the BOINC clients that causes communication errors with several projects:
Amicable Numbers
climateprediction
Collatz Conjecture
GPUGRID
iThena
SiDock@home
SRBase
WUProp@home

We’ll see a new BOINC version release soon, but for now a fix is here:

nanoHUB

Post by Contact »

https://boinc.nanohub.org/nanoHUB_at_home/

nanoHUB is a research project, based at nanoHUB.org, that uses Internet-connected computers to do research in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

This project supports over 200 simulation tools deployed at nanoHUB.org. These tools are used for both education and research, and they enable simulations that can run in a few minutes or over several hours. The memory requirements can also vary widely, depending on the input parameters to the simulation.

The goal of this project is to connect volunteer computing to the simulation needs of nanoHUB, an online science gateway focused on nanotechnology.
The nanoHUB simulation community includes 16000+ users who run 1.2M+ jobs on 500+ simulation tools each year.

nanoHUB is run by the Network for Computational Nanotechnology.

This is another senior BOINC project that has worked on several mostly math based research projects.
Gerasim@Home is presently doing math research involving Latin Squares.
They often have several live applications running and the current list is here:

boincserver currently has the following applications. When you participate in boincserver, tasks for one or more of these applications will be assigned to your computer. The current version of the application will be downloaded to your computer. This happens automatically; you don’t have to do anything.

Primates@Home 🐵

https://pirates.boincsynergy.ca/primates/

These are a few saved pages that Pirates@Home redirected to for an April Fool prank in 2008. It was a clone of the Pirates site with a monkey template overlay.
The inspiration came from Chief Petty Officer Stainless Cutlass (Jord) when he mentioned that when he visited Pirates@Home shortly before this, he was strangely seeing Primates@Home instead.

It was a great adventure browsing the site to see the witty monkey alterations. An example was that users avatars were replaced with monkey themed pics.
This was mine:
