iThena

The iThena distributed project concerns experimental mapping of network structures included in the Internet. The project is in closed beta phase. Currently, the only application available in the project (iThena CNode) performs a sequence of traceroute procedures from client computers. The resulting data is sent back to the server and submitted to the main database, where it can be further analyzed.

Currently the main supported and recommended platform is x86_64-pc-linux-gnu. After joining the project, accept the download of test/beta applications in the settings (iThena CNode is a Beta application). This can be changed by checking the appropriate box 'Run test applications?' in 'iThena preferences' in your profile after logging in.

Network structure mapping summaries will be available online.

For the past several weeks, none of my hosts were receiving work from iThena. I imagine one of the recent project server outages messed things up for me.
I needed to reset the project on all hosts and all is good now. Maybe your host is also waiting for a reset?

iThena Computational

It seems that iThena has just been split in two.
The project at the original URL https://root.ithena.net/usr/ is now iThena.Measurements and a new URL https://comp.ithena.net/usr/ for a project named iThena.
Computational that has user accounts and teams imported. No applications yet.

In the old iThena project (still current), which we have now renamed to iThena.Measurments, there were only NCI applications performing network measurements.

In iThena.Computational the computational part (CPU and/or GPU?) will be already implemented.
That is, based on results of measurements from iThena.Measurments it will be possible to perform typical computational tasks in iThena.Computational (e.g. graphical problems based on topology models of Internet networks).

Predicting Dr Who Fan attack and his questions I will answer: iThena.Computational has a separate isolated resource of disk space which does not interfere with iThena.Measurments :)

That is, (small joke), it may run out of space for iThena.Measurments but not must run out of space for iThena.Computational.

These two projects have separate RAID groups based on different disks. These drives are unfortunately quite small SAS 300GB.
